REUTERS/Kevin Lamarque/File Photo Acquire Licensing RightsAug 28 (Reuters) - The United States Transportation Department (USDOT) on Monday fined American Airlines (AAL.O) $4.1 million for unlawfully keeping thousands of passengers on the tarmac for hours, the largest-ever penalty for violating the rule. On one of the 43 flights, passengers were not provided with food and water as required. “This is the latest action in our continued drive to enforce the rights of airline passengers,” U.S. Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg said. While accepting this compromise settlement "American respectfully disagrees that certain of these tarmac delays warrant enforcement action under the extremecircumstances presented," it added.

Techies fled from San Francisco during the pandemic, and its resurgence stalled for a while. It's just south of Japantown, mere blocks from San Francisco City Hall, and north of the Mission District. Someone even said it would be "irresponsible" to not work on generative AI in San Francisco. There aren't any skeptics in the space yet, and the majority of generative AI investments land in the Bay Area. During the holidays, she had around 70 lost bags — and that's not including the luggage in the bag room, she added. Dallas Fort Worth Airport told Insider to contact the airlines because they manage passengers' baggage.

Over the last several years, Capital One has committed significant resources toward making its credit card miles competitive with other heavyweights in the industry. Starting Oct. 7, all but two of Capital One’s airline and hotel partners will transfer at a 1-to-1 ratio. British Airways is one of six airline loyalty programs that will now transfer from Capital One at a 1-to-1 ratio. By moving the bulk of its partners to a 1-to-1 transfer ratio, Capital One miles are now comparable to Chase Ultimate Rewards and American Express Membership Rewards, both of which transfer to most of their partners at a 1-to-1 ratio. If you don’t have a Capital One credit card, the Capital One Venture currently comes with a sign-up bonus that can put a chunk of miles in your pocket fairly quickly.
